I have a 16 years old gas boiler (Crown) serves for my heating demand. It ran OK last year but days ago the "carbon monoxide" alarms beep while the boiler is working; therefore, I had to shut boiler off. A technician checked it and said CO was leaking out of boiler cause detectors active.
I am thinking replace the old one with a new, high efficiency (80% is OK?) gas boiler; but not sure any problem exists in chimney?
please advise.

You could go with a 90 % and not have to use the chimney. That may be a better way to go
