FYI - I called your company today & left a message with your wife - she told me to post and you would reply - thanks!
Here is my issue. We had our oil company replace our "very inefficient boiler" with a new Burnham V83 and when it fires, it sounds like a cannon. They said "this was normal for Burnham", but replaced the valve anyway. A little better (still loud) but now it "sputters" when it is running. I have been trying to find info as to whether or not this is "normal" and so far I have been told that if it has a Beckett burner, that is my issue; they are very loud. Can you confirm this? Should I have them replace the burner with either a Carlin or Riello? Which is better/quieter/more efficient? It is very difficult to enjoy our home since we can hear the boiler fire as well as when it is running.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It shouldnt bang or sputter. I put in to many V83's to count. They all sound smooth when firing and while running. I always liked the Carlin burner better than the Beckett. Im sure its a 5 minute fix with the right tech.

| Thanks for the info - the company that installed it will be coming to my house on Monday with one of the Burnham techs. I will post my resolution.

The company came and replaced the nozzle again, but it is still loud when it fires. I am going to schedule a visit with them and a tech from Burnham. I am getting a bit frustrated at this point.....
Does having an oil tank outside have any bearing on how loud a furnace will fire, ie. fairly cold oil being fed into the burner?
